EXPLORE ANATOMY AND EVOLUTION

The brain is one of the most intricate and complex structures, composed of billions of neurons communicating to form connections and synapses. Mammals, however, push this complexity further, having evolved a unique structure on their cerebral cortex, the neocortex. This structure is responsible for higher cognitive functions like sensory perception, cognition, and voluntary movement. Explore functional architecture, taxonomy, and evolution to understand why mammals developed such a unique characteristic.
